Studio
Marcelo von der Heyde was born in 1962. He paints landscapes that dissolve into abstraction, and he works sheet metal.
As a boy he drew horses in charcoal. He came back to art as an adult, in a course with Alberto Thormann. He then trained with the Mendoza artists Ángel Gil, Égar Murillo, Marcela Furlani and Martín Villalonga, and in Buenos Aires with Tulio de Sagastizábal.
He calls his painting abstract landscape: the dry landscape of Mendoza, seen up close, turns into matter and colour. He paints without sketches or photographs. The composition appears as he paints.
He works with acrylic, oil, thinner and wine, and with small found objects. He uses brushes, textured rollers and recycled plastic cards as palette knives.
Since 2012 he has shown in Mendoza, Buenos Aires and Chile, and at fairs in Paris, London, New York and Miami. The critic Ernesto Muñoz, of AICA Chile, curated his shows in Chile.
In sculpture he works metal sheets with different techniques, the core of his show Reflexión in Buenos Aires. The same metal craft extends to studio furniture.
